Musée de la Nacre et de la Tabletterie
Located in a former 19th-century factory listed as a Historic Monument, this museum, awarded the “Musée de France” label, preserves and showcases a once-thriving craft industry. Demonstration guides, a reconstructed button-maker’s workshop powered by a steam engine, fans, dominoes, opera glasses… A journey into the heart of precious materials — mother-of-pearl, horn, tortoiseshell, ivory, and exotic woods — that made Méru the world capital of mother-of-pearl in the 19th century.
