Fête des Jeux en Bois

Everyone loves wooden games and they are sure to bring back some childhood memories. At the beginning of every year, come and play some traditional games from all over the world as a family at the “Fête des jeux en bois” (Celebration of Wooden Games).
This is a week of celebrations across the towns of the local area, starting at the schools and finishing on the Saturday with a great festive day, open to all. So are you ready? Get set? Play!

Fête de la Campagne

A celebration of the countryside. Every three years, at the beginning of the autumn, we put on our wellington boots and straw hat for an enjoyable, rural weekend organised in each town of the municipality communities. There are scarecrow competitions, educational farms, local farmer’s markets, demonstrations and exhibitions, horse-drawn carriage rides, making apple juice and so many more activities. Come and have some fun celebrating this natural environment that has given us so much.

 

Salon du Vinyle in Parmain

Are you more into rap, soul, reggae or pop? It doesn’t matter…Collectors of records, posters and anything to do with the world of music, this “Salon du Vinyle” is the event for you! And for those just curious to find out more, come and take a stroll around the vintage flea market and vintage cars on this Sunday at the start of spring. You’ll certainly be leaving with a feeling of nostalgia…

 

Festival du Film Court in L'Isle-Adam

This Short Film Festival is an unmissable event in the world of cinema. It is held every year in October at the Le Conti cinema. Over the three-day competition, the festival showcases the work of directors who are already well-known or those who are new to the scene, who are judged by a jury of cinema professionals. So, do we have your attention? Silence, cameras start rolling and… action!

Les Médiévales de Méry in Méry-sur-Oise

Hear ye, hear ye brave souls, this journey back in time is for you. At the beginning of the summer, thanks to this event the “Médiévales de Méry”, you’ll have front row seats to swordfighting, equestrian and archery shows, you’ll be able to explore a Medieval camp and meet the craftspeople, go for donkey rides, watch concerts and try out some Medieval dances yourself. Come and experience the authenticity of the Middle-Ages. All you lords and ladies will even have the chance to dress up in period clothing.

Les Duels Adamois in L'Isle-Adam

The Medieval theme continues with the “Duels Adamois”.  These duels are one of the highlights of the summer season and take place every year, on the first weekend of July. Demonstrations and introductions to historical swordfighting, discovery workshops, archery, sale of wooden games and some recreations of Medieval scenes of daily life. Get ready, lords, ladies and brave knights, to be plunged into the very heart of the Middle-Ages!

 

The Kustom Festival & Tattoo in Parmain

An enjoyable journey back to the fifties.  The “Kustom Festival” is an unmissable event in September for fans of the fifties! It is a retro-themed convention with fifties pin-ups, rock bands and vintage cars. Not-to-mention tattoo, piercing, clothes, jewellery stands and a barber for those who would like the perfect retro look.

 

Festival du Court-Métrage au Pays de Gabin in Mériel

In the footsteps of Jean Gabin, the man with 161 million viewers. Every year in November, Mériel gives young directors the chance to shine at the “Festival du Court-Métrage” (Short Film Festival). This is an original way to carry on the legacy of French actor Jean Gabin who had more than 58 films under his belt with over a million box-office viewers, out of the 95 films he starred in. The prestigious “Prix Jean Gabin” award is handed out on the Sunday by a big name in French cinema. As for you, the viewers, after watching the showings on the Saturday, you’ll be able to choose your favourite film, to be in with a chance to win the “Prix du public aux jeunes réalisateurs” (People’s choice award for young directors).
